Wellness Check-in 2023

Realign Your Wellness Priorities

January is Mental Wellness Month, the perfect time to check in with ourselves and realign our wellness priorities after the busy holiday season. Taking a few minutes to check in on your mental, physical and emotional wellness can set you up for a healthier and more productive year.

Physical Wellness

January is when most people dive headfirst into the latest fad diet, join a rigorous gym or quit drinking alcohol for dry-January, only to quit halfway through the month and go back to old habits. This year, we encourage you to take a holistic approach to your wellness, checking in with your body and changing one thing that you can easily work into your daily life as it is. You’re more likely to stick with New Years Resolutions if they are SMART goals – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-based. For example, committing to drink 16 ounces more water a day to reach your daily water goal for the next 3 weeks.

Emotional Wellness

The National Center For Emotional Wellness defines emotional wellness as "an awareness, understanding and acceptance of our feelings, and our ability to manage effectively through challenges and change." Choose any of the ideas below to start working on emotional wellness in 2023:

·       Spend more time outside

·       Eat healthier foods like fruits and vegetables

·       Go for a walk

·       Talk to a therapist

·       Meditate

·       Ask for help

·       Call a friend

·       Join a mom’s group

·       Plan a date night

·       Do yoga

·       Exercise

·       Do something creative like painting

·       Take up a new hobby just for fun

Mental Wellness

Mental wellness is the ability to cope with life’s stressors while maintaining a good quality of life. In the space provided below, rate yourself 1 being the lowest, 10 being the highest, how well you feel you are doing in each of these areas:

___Maintain positive feelings about yourself, others, and life

___Accept yourself and others with qualities and limitations

___Set aside time in your life for leisure, socializing with friends and family

___Get enough sleep to feel well-rested

___Evaluate close relationships – set boundaries when necessary

___Overall finances – financial worries can cause major stress

___Meaningful career – feel challenged, like you’re making a difference, but you’re not too overwhelmed or stressed

If you ranked yourself low in any of the areas above, you have a great place to start aligning your priorities and goals for 2023.
